his report aims to inform customers, suppliers, employees, authorities and society in general about the environmental practices employed at our Mercedes-Benz factory in Vitoria. We began more than 20 years ago, convinced of our responsibility to protect the environment and make our business a sustainable industrial activity. This responsibility and commitment to environmental sustainability is ingrained in the Mercedes-Benz Group's DNA and in our own.
We continuously work on a business strategy that accords with our vision of respect for the environment. We are mindful that our company should aim to benefit not just our investors, and society, but also the environment that surrounds us.
Our environmental strategy has different dimensions. One of its main aims is the reduction of CO2 emissions. In this area, the Mercedes-Benz Group's goal is to achieve carbon-neutral production at its production plants by 2039. This must be achieved through the consumption of 100% renewable energy.
We are also working on reducing consumption, striving for greener and more economical production. We are reducing per-vehicle water consumption and waste generation, where we have hit targets that go much further than what is required by law.
As Mercedes-Benz, we want to shape the future and make it as sustainable as possible. We can only succeed at this if we focus on meeting the needs of our customers, with cutting-edge technology and progressive luxury.
We know that our customers, our employees and our city expect us to be examples and drivers of change, and this includes how we address the issue of environmental responsibility. Our quest for sustainable industrial processes that set an example calls for innovation and training.
For us, sustainability means continuously generating value for all our stakeholders, whether customers, employees or investors, as well as our business partners and society as a whole. Economic, environmental and social responsibility go hand in hand throughout the entire value chain. To achieve long-term success, we must rise to meet this responsibility.
We are in the process of transforming our current factory into a completely new plant. This transformation constitutes a major technical and economic challenge requiring determination and commitment by all the parties involved. And we have that! This transformation is our challenge, our duty and our ambition.
